Minimum system requirements:

Power Mac with system 8, 6 MB of HD space, 5 MB of RAM.
It should run on anything with system 7 on, but it'd probably be too slow to enjoy.

Basic commands:

(Most of these are explained inside the game as you come across them.)
Use arrow keys or keypad (2-4-6-8) to move around.
Just bump into people to talk to them; use return, right arrow key or 6 on your keypad to continue a conversation or any other time you are asked to press return. TALK TO EVERYONE- it doesn't take that much and most conversations will hold some valuable piece of information, also explore every town and location, you might find some extra options and gold pieces (chests).
Bump into objects to search- this is mainly used for barrels, like in the very first dungeon in Nebulae, below Jeriko's house (cellar).
Use keys 1 to 8 on your keyboard (not on your keypad because as stated before that's used for movement) to drink any potions you might have.
Use the F keys to buy stuff in the shops; note that when buying anything but potions, your old gear is traded in at half of its original price; you will be told the actual cost after such refund and you will be asked to confirm, press "Y" on your keyboard to go ahead. (Note that "Y" is of a "QZERTY" or "QWERTY" keyboard layout, if yours differs you might have a different key to press in that same "Y" position; for example if you had a german "QWERTZ" keyboard, you'd have to press "Z")
You can only have one weapon, one armor and one pair of boots at any one time.
Magic: each spell requires a certain amount of "energy" of its own element to be cast. There are four types of energy: fire, water, air, earth; energy is replenished by finding corresponding crystals (fire crystals, water crystals, air crystals, earth crystals).
When in the map you can choose one of the places which have an arrow on them, by pressing the corresponding movement key; you can also press return or enter to go back to the place where you were, if you left unintentionally. Note that certain places become available only after you have accomplished specific tasks.
The price of certain commodities found for sale later in the game (like crystals and rings) and also the income gained from the various jobs will increase with your character level; so if you go back to them after gaining a few levels you will find higher prices and incomes.

Pressing the following keys will bring up different screens:
E- equipment screen - use this to check your weapon-armor-boots and any rings (2 max)
and talisman (1 max) you have - also shows quest related items.
C- cast screen - access this to cast spells (when you learn them, at the beginning you
have none), press the corresponding key to cast - note that next to each spell there is
also an F key that you can use for quicker casting.
P- player statistics - this shows some statistics like how long you have been playing the
game, number of monsters killed, gold collected - also used to distibute skillpoints as
     your character gains levels.
L- level times - keeps track of when (game time) you gained every level.

(a menu option to access the 4 screens described above)

- sets speed to the default (calculated the first time your
  run the game)
- correspondingly multiplies your current speed
(note: speed choice affects character and monsters
movement speed, not combat animation speed)

- this option will randomly refill all dungeons with
monsters, chests, etc; use it if you feel you want to
develop your character more before advancing further in
the game, or you find the dungeon(s) you are dealing
with too hard and want to go back to some previously
cleared one(s) (note: the game can be finished without
  ever using this option)
- the location indicator shows your position in any given
place; choose between 4 different settings - fixed, slow,
  normal, hiccup

- sets the amount of time messages stay on screen before
disappearing; it affects all messages and dialogs too, to an
extent, although in the majority of cases, when actually
needed, you will have to press return (or enter or right
key) to make the message disappear

Troubleshooting:

It is a known issue that sometimes using the F keys within the game will repeatedly bring up the Apple function key help window or in some cases even cause the system to freeze.
Disabling the function keys from the keyboard control panel will solve the problem.

Registration:

You can play nearly half of the game for free; if you enjoyed it and wish to finish it, though, you are kindly asked to support our efforts by paying a registration fee of $15.
At present you can pay with various options (by credit card, cash or cheque - also over the phone) at DigitalCandle.com. This is a link to their secure ToL payment page:
ToL page at DigitalCandle

If in the future such option should not be available anymore, you can always look at ToL registration page for current methods by which you can register.
